The Mazama Hoodie is made from 150gsm Polartec Power Wool fabric. One of the more interesting fabrics out there in that is part merino wool and part polyester, but it isn't a blend. The merino wool is on the inside in the shape of small grids, and the polyester is on the outside. Basically you get the best of both. the durability and quick drying of polyester, and the comfort, antimicrobial properties, and wicking of merino against your skin.

I used to make this only as a sun hoodie but, because I made a few of these as special requests for winter base layers, I ended up liking that enough to offer as an option to everybody. So you get to choose if you want the sun hoodie cut or the winter base design.

As a sun hoodie I wore this extensively. It is a nice compromise between the Monarch which is all polyester, and the Mustang which is 100% merino wool. You get most of the benefits of merino wool and all of the benefits of polyester. This is cut like my other sun hoodies with a deep, oversized hood for great air flow and  sun protection to your face.. As a winter base I cut this really similar to my Alpha hoodies. It is tighter overall, with a snug -ish drawstring hood for heat retention.

If you aren't sure which to choose, the sun hoodie version is the most versatile in that its a warm weather sun hoodie and also works fine as a cool weather hiking shirt or base layer. If you just want a base for your winter activities, choose the winter base.

This hoodie is made by myself in Bend, Oregon. The fabric is made in the USA and certified under OEKO-TEX standard 100, bluesign approved.
