I have worn my Alpha Direct fleece garments as my only insulating layer for three years and thousands of backpacking miles. Here is what I think everybody should know about how to get those most out of my Alpha Direct fleece garments.

Your Alpha Direct fleece garment should last many years and thousands of hiking or riding miles if you take good care of it. Machine wash in cool or cold water with nothing but laundry soap on gentle cycle. Air drying is best (Alpha dries in a super short time) or tumble dry on low heat setting. When on trail and laundering with other hikers or riders, be alert to how another person my be setting up the machine. They may not be paying any attention to the settings, so you need to be.
Try to store your Alpha Direct garment inside your pack or bags when moving. This protects it from snagging on anything. I've strapped my hoodie to the top of my pack and regretted it. One low bridge you misjudge and you could have a hole or worse.
Do not bushwhack while wearing your Alpha Direct fleece garment.
Keep hook velcro (the abrasive side of the velcro) away from your Alpha Direct fleece.
If you get a run in the fabric due to snagging, you can cut off the loose fibers with scissors. The fabric will not continue to run. If you get a hole in the fleece, it is best repaired with a needle and thread.
This is most important with the pants and joggers. Avoid sitting on hard rock or ground. Sit on your pack, sitting pad, bear can, tyvek sheet or foam mattress in the backcountry. Sitting on highly abrasive surfaces can wear down the fleece in a short time.
Keep your Alpha Direct garment away from extreme heat. This is true when laundering for sure but also keeping inside a super hot car, inside a black backpack or bag in extreme heat and direct sun. I've never had these things be an issue personally but its something to think about. It is always best to store your garment in cool conditions as much as possible.
Lastly, I am available to repair your fleece, or you can find a local shop to repair your fleece. Reach out to me if you need help. Let's keep your garment out of the landfill and in service. I have not personally had any Alpha Direct fleece product not able to be repaired and sent back out onto the trail.
