Made from USA-made Polartec Alpha 90gsm fabric, this ultralight hoodie weighs between 3.5 and 5 ounces, depending on size, but provides insulation like a much heavier garment. It breathes incredibly well, and repels moisture. It compresses into the size of your first. It fills a niche in the hiking world because, you put it on when you are cold, but when you hit the next hill and start to sweat, no big deal! Unlike a puffy, it will breathe and wick your sweat away, allowing you to keep hiking on to the next downhill, or break. It's lighter and cheaper than any puffy on the market. Pro tip: If you need more warmth at camp, put your rain shell on to cut the wind. You just made yourself a backcountry puffy.

We found this hoodie is great for: A packable layer for cool to cold conditions when you are physically exerting some or most of the time. Ideal for stop-start activities or sustained exertion. An outer layer for mildly cool weather. A great emergency hoodie to have in your pack just in case. 
 
What we found this hoodie is not ideal for: being inactive in cold and windy conditions, unless you have a shell or outer layer to put over it. It also is not a fan of hook velcro!
